Simple Nutrition for Busy Athletes
Sarah mccormick, MS, RDN
Hi,
I’m Sarah
I’m a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with over 20 years of experience helping families, teens, and young adults build a healthy relationship with food and fueling. I specialize in sports nutrition and adolescent nutrition.
My Path to This Work
Before becoming a dietitian, I was an athlete and remember how confusing fueling felt while juggling school and training. Those experiences sparked my interest in nutrition and shape how I work today: practical, supportive, and focused on what athletes truly need to feel and perform their best.
I hold a BS in Exercise Science and Health Education, an MS in Food and Nutrition, and completed my dietetic internship at the University of Utah with a focus on sports nutrition and pediatrics.

Professional Experience
I’ve worked across a wide range of settings, including:
-
Health Promotion & Sports Medicine Research – developing and implementing behavior-change programs for schools, high school athletes, and employee wellness
-
Private Practice – supporting families through feeding challenges such as weight concerns and picky eating, helping teens recover from disordered eating and eating disorders, and working with athletes at all levels
-
Division I Athletics – counseling teams and individual athletes at the University of Portland
Now based in Massachusetts, I’m excited to expand my work with young athletes across New England.
My Approach
I take an athlete-centered approach grounded in Intuitive Eating and evidence-based nutrition to help athletes fuel safely and confidently, and in a way that supports both performance and long-term well-being. My goal is for every client to walk away feeling empowered by all the foods they can include, never restricted, so fueling feels positive, achievable, and sustainable.
My role is to help athletes:
-
understand what their bodies need
-
fuel confidently for training, competition, and growth
-
navigate mixed messages online
-
build lifelong skills that support performance and wellbeing
I also support parents in creating a feeding environment that nurtures capable, confident eaters from the start.
Why I Love This Work
There is nothing better than seeing an athlete feel stronger, more energized, and more confident once they’re fueling well. I’m here to help make that happen with clarity, compassion, and strategies that fit real life.
Outside the Office
When I’m not working, you can usually find me outdoors with my family. I enjoy snowboarding, surfing, hiking, exploring new spots in New England, or finding good food to enjoy together.
